Under Mississippi Law a Residential Builder or Remodeler IS NOT required to have Liability or Worker Compenstation Insurance to be a licensed contractor.  Therefore the issue is not whether an insured homebuilder or remodeler is a "Better" contractor because he or she is "insured" but more over the general public should keep in mind that just because this contractor has a license do not assume they are INSURED.

Beginning October 2008 Your Mississippi State Board of Contractors, began identifying those Home Builders and Remodelers who are licensed in the state but  have not supplied our agency with evidence of either Worker Comp or General Liability insurance will be regarded as NON-INSURED and their license marked accordingly.
