Good advice: Hire only licensed contractors for your construction project.
It is unlawful for a contractor to perform residential construction or residential improvement without a valid license. Likewise, it is unlawful for a contractor to submit a bid, enter into a contract or otherwise engage in the business of a commercial contractor without a valid certificate of responsibility.
Violators are subject to a monetary penalty and/or suspension or revocation of their license or certificate of responsibility.
The MSBOC Statewide Investigative Team works to eliminate unlicensed contractors working in Mississippi. Focused, specifically-targeted operations are conducted weekly around the state. The investigative team routinely visits jobsites to verify the license of contractors and subcontractors.
